Hagaddah By Herut Explains Passover Roots Of Zionism

A new, pro-Zionist anthology for Passover combines classic, hard-to-find essays by founding fathers of Zionism Ze'ev Jabotinsky and Dr. Israel Eldad, with modern tracts intended to increase understanding of the Seder and the Festival itself, at no cost.

M’Avdut L’Herut, From Slavery to Freedom was created by Herut North America “(because) Jabotinsky’s brand of Zionist optimism is needed precisely in these dark days of pandemic,” said Karma Feinstein Cohen, the Executive Director.

Herut North America’s National Director Moshe Phillips endorsed using the collection of essays and thoughts about Passover to compliment the Haggadah during the Seder, or to be read at other times during the holiday.

“Many people this year are facing spending their Seder without their family and friends as they look forward to every year. These articles will provide a fresh perspective on this amazing holiday, and allow readers to draw encouragement at this challenging time.”

This stands in sharp contrast to the J-Street Haggadah, Phillips asserted, where “almost every page in the new J Street Haggadah drips with denunciations of the Jewish State.” “A section called “Ten Modern Plagues of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict” lists ten ways in which Israel persecutes Arabs. Palestinian terrorism is mentioned—but only in order to blame Israel … Elijah’s Cup supposedly reminds us of “the pain of the Palestinians.”

Herut describes itself as an international movement for Zionist pride and education dedicated to the ideals of Jabotinsky. Herut’s website is www.herutna.org.
