As the Festival of Lights begins, Alberta’s Premier has extended warm wishes to the province’s Jewish community in a message emphasizing resilience, faith, and hope.
“Chanukah commemorates the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days in the Temple—a symbol of resilience, faith, and divine providence,” said the Premier. “It reminds us that even in the face of adversity, the flame of hope and determination can shine brightly.”
The Premier acknowledged the challenges and uncertainties faced by the Jewish community in recent times, expressing hope that the Chanukah lights will bring comfort and inspire perseverance.
“As many in the Jewish community continue to face challenges and uncertainty, may the Chanukah lights bring you comfort, continued perseverance, and hope for the future,” the Premier added.
Concluding with a heartfelt holiday wish, the Premier said, “Chag Chanukah Sameach!”
Chanukah, which lasts for eight days, is celebrated by Jewish families worldwide with the lighting of the menorah, prayers, traditional foods, and gatherings. It commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and serves as a timeless reminder of the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair.
