In a groundbreaking initiative to address corporate antisemitism, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and JLens have introduced the ‘TOV’ Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) on the New York Stock Exchange. Trading under the ticker symbol ‘TOV’—derived from the Hebrew word for ‘good’—this ETF offers investors an opportunity to support companies that align with Jewish values and demonstrate a commitment to combating antisemitism.
The TOV ETF comprises a selection of U.S. public companies that have been rigorously screened to ensure they do not support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. This initiative allows the Jewish community to hold corporations accountable for their social responsibilities, particularly concerning antisemitic practices.
Ari Hoffnung, Managing Director of JLens, emphasized the significance of corporate influence in modern society, stating, “Given their profound influence on society—now rivaling that of governments—corporations have an obligation to ensure their products, platforms, and workplaces remain free from antisemitism and all forms of hate.” He further noted that TOV provides a new investment vehicle for the Jewish community to hold corporations accountable while enabling investors to ‘invest Jewishly.’
The launch of TOV comes at a time when antisemitic incidents are on the rise globally. A recent survey by the ADL revealed that 46% of adults worldwide hold antisemitic views, underscoring the urgent need for initiatives that address such prejudices.
By directing investments toward companies that uphold ethical standards and distancing from those that perpetuate hate, the TOV ETF aims to foster a corporate environment where antisemitism is actively challenged. This strategic financial approach empowers investors to make a tangible impact in the fight against antisemitism through their investment choices.
