Residents of Lower Frederick Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, are expressing outrage after a neighbor began displaying a flag bearing a Nazi swastika outside his home. The flag, first noticed approximately two weeks ago along Meng Road, has elicited shock and anger among community members.
One concerned neighbor questioned the homeowner’s motives, stating, “Why are you so filled with hate? I don’t understand.” Another resident noted that the individual considers himself a historian and should be aware of the negative impact such a symbol has on the community’s sense of safety.
Upon noticing the flag, residents contacted Lower Frederick Township officials to inquire about possible actions. However, the township indicated that the display is protected under free speech, limiting their ability to intervene.
Andrew Goretsky, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League in Philadelphia, emphasized the flag’s association with hateful ideology and called for public condemnation. He stated, “Flying this flag is showing support for some of the most hateful ideology in the history of mankind.”
Elected officials representing the area have also spoken out. Congresswoman Madeleine Dean described the act as a deliberate attack on the Jewish community and societal decency, urging collective rejection of hatred. State Representative Donna Scheuren echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that there is no place for antisemitism in society.
In response, neighbors are organizing to turn this incident into a positive action by planning donations to local Jewish organizations, demonstrating solidarity and support for affected community members.
