On March 22-23, 2025, New York City hosted the “Rise & Respond: Global Student Summit Against Antisemitism,” organized by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM). The summit brought together over 300 Jewish students and allies from universities worldwide to address the escalating issue of antisemitism on college campuses.
The gathering provided a platform for participants to share personal experiences and discuss strategies to counteract the troubling rise in antisemitic incidents, which have surged significantly since the October 7, 2024, Hamas attack on Israel. CAM’s Antisemitism Research Center documented 742 such incidents in 2024, a 120.8% increase from the previous year.
A highlight of the summit was the launch of the F.A.C.E. (Fighting Antisemitism on Campuses Effectively) Initiative, aiming to equip students with effective tools and strategies to combat antisemitism and strengthen Jewish life on campuses.
The summit’s timing was particularly significant, coinciding with federal actions led by the Trump administration to hold universities accountable for failing to protect Jewish students and faculty from discrimination and harassment.
Participants left the summit with renewed commitment and practical strategies to foster safer and more inclusive campus environments, reinforcing the importance of unity and proactive engagement in combating hate.
