In a decisive move at its latest Policy & Planning Conference, the New Blue Party of Ontario has underlined its unwavering support for Israel and its zero-tolerance stance on antisemitism. The party’s newly endorsed Policy 9 explicitly calls for defunding any organization that receives public funding and supports Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) or other campaigns targeting Israel, its economy, or local Jewish communities and organizations.

The platform comes in the wake of escalating global tensions. On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a brutal and unprovoked attack on Israel, resulting in the loss of innocent lives and the abduction of hostages. The New Blue Party strongly condemned this act of terrorism, reiterating its commitment to standing with the people of Israel. “We unequivocally support Israel, and we call for the immediate return of all hostages,” stated party leader Jim Karahalios. This sentiment reflects a broader recognition that antisemitism—whether on the streets or within political discourse—must be met with decisive action.

At the core of the party’s platform is Policy 9. This policy mandates that any organization receiving public funds and promoting BDS or similar campaigns must have those funds withdrawn. Party members believe that by cutting financial support to groups that undermine Israel, Ontario can take a stand against antisemitic hate and the divisive rhetoric that fuels it. “Our vote in favor of Policy 9 isn’t just a political maneuver—it’s a principled stand against hate, discrimination, and the delegitimization of a key ally in the Middle East,” Karahalios added.

The New Blue Party prides itself on its grassroots roots and clear conservative values. In contrast to traditional political parties that may shy away from contentious issues, New Blue’s platform is built on the belief that combating hate and protecting vulnerable communities is non-negotiable. By holding a public vote that resulted in a clear policy declaration—a rarity among Ontario’s conservative options—the party distinguishes itself as a forward-thinking alternative committed to protecting Jewish communities and the broader values of democracy and free enterprise.

As Ontario prepares for future elections, the New Blue Party’s strong stance on antisemitism and BDS sets it apart as a robust defender of both local and international Jewish communities. With a platform that not only condemns hate but also seeks concrete measures—like defunding hate-driven organizations—the party is positioning itself as a leading voice in the fight against the forces that threaten social cohesion and democratic values in Ontario.

The party’s message is clear: for the New Blue Party, supporting Israel and standing up against antisemitism isn’t merely policy—it’s a commitment to a safer, more unified society.
