Scathing Display Of Extremism: Self‑Hating Jews Among Pro‑Palestinian Protesters At Montreal Mall

At Cavendish Mall, demonstrators denounced the "October 8" documentary with hateful, anti‑Israel rhetoric—raising alarms over extremist fringe tactics that undermine genuine debate.

Disturbing scenes unfolded at Montreal’s Cavendish Mall earlier today when a faction of pro‑Palestinian demonstrators invaded the public space to protest the screening of the documentary “October 8.” Eyewitnesses and several circulating videos reveal that the protest was marked not by balanced discourse, but by incendiary, hateful rhetoric aimed squarely at Israel. Among the demonstrators, some were characterized by critics as “self‑hating Jews” — individuals who, rather than defending their heritage, apparently choose to reject it in favor of radical anti‑Israel sentiments.

According to multiple accounts, the protestors loudly denounced the documentary, accusing it of distorting the Palestinian narrative, while simultaneously chanting vitriolic anti‑Israel slogans. “We reject Zionist lies!” and “Israel must fall!” were among the slogans heard echoing through the crowded mall. One bystander noted, “It wasn’t just political criticism—some of these individuals, who are Jewish by heritage, are effectively spitting on their own identity. It’s both perplexing and deeply disturbing.”

Community leaders and pro‑Israel activists have condemned the protest, arguing that such extreme demonstrations serve only to fan the flames of division and undermine sincere dialogue about the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict. “When you let extremist voices hijack public debate, you end up with a spectacle that devalues both truth and tolerance,” said a spokesperson for a local pro‑Israel advocacy group. “This isn’t legitimate protest—it’s a dangerous display of self‑destructive rhetoric.”

Critics argue that the fringe elements on display not only misrepresent their heritage but also contribute to a climate of hostility that affects all who support Israel’s right to exist and defend itself. Such acts, they warn, risk further polarizing an already divided public and may embolden others to adopt similar extremist tactics in the guise of political activism.

Local law enforcement responded swiftly to reports of disorder, and while no arrests have been made, authorities are monitoring the situation closely, ensuring that demonstrations remain within the bounds of public order.

As the controversy over the “October 8” documentary and the broader debate about the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict continue to rage, incidents like this serve as a stark reminder of the toxic influence of extremist rhetoric. Critics call on community leaders, the media, and policymakers to reject hate speech in all its forms and to foster more balanced and respectful public discourse.

  1. Self hating Jews. I was horrified to see these demonstrators when I exited the movie which is a documentary about the significant rise in global antisemitism! I was upset enough without being shocked by these Jew haters.
