Summary

On April 29, 2025, Toronto’s Nova Exhibition hosted a powerful commemoration of #EndJewHatred Day, bringing together survivors, activists, and elected officials amid record-high levels of Jew-hatred worldwide. From the haunting festival artifacts on display to the movement’s explosive grassroots growth, 24 active chapters, 50 campus fellows at 40 universities, and 83 direct-action events in 2024, the gathering served as both a memorial and a rallying cry. Attendees also heard sobering statistics: antisemitic incidents in Canada have surged 670% since October 7, 2023, while North American college campuses saw a 500% spike, reinforcing the imperative for immediate, sustained action.

Event Overview

The international #EndJewHatred movement marked its annual day of action at the Nova Exhibition, a site built from the very remains of the October 7 Nova music festival massacre, including scorched cars, bullet-riddled stalls, and personal belongings.

Speakers included movement founder Brooke Goldstein, Emmy-winning journalist Stella Escobedo, and Oct. 7 survivor Ofir Amir, who co-produced the Nova festival with Tribe of Nova. Canadian MP Melissa Lantsman was honored for her leadership in Parliament.

The ceremony closed with a unified plea for the safe return of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas, a stark reminder that Jew-hatred today translates into real lives in peril.

Movement Scale and Growth

Since its founding, #EndJewHatred has expanded into 24 active communities and chapters and appointed 50 campus fellows at 40 universities across North America, empowering local advocates to organize protests, educational events, and direct-action campaigns.

In 2024 alone, the movement orchestrated 83 protests and actions nationwide, demonstrating a rapidly intensifying grassroots response to rising antisemitism.

Statistical Context

  • Canada: Antisemitic incidents have jumped 670% since October 7, 2023, according to the movement’s own audit, far outpacing other hate-crime trends.
  • U.S. college campuses: Jew-hatred reports spiked 500% over the same period, with Jewish students feeling increasingly marginalized.
  • Global attitudes: Over 1 billion people worldwide now hold antisemitic views, underscoring the movement’s truly international mandate.
  • Perception of safety: 82% of Canadian Jews report feeling less safe in their communities, a dramatic erosion of security that demands systemic reform.

Meanwhile, B’nai Brith Canada’s April 2025 audit confirms that antisemitism in Canada has reached perilous, record-setting heights, with violent assaults and harassment surging across cities.

Political Endorsements and Proclamations

Across the U.S., governors and legislators in New York, Nevada, California, Florida (among other states) have officially proclaimed April 29 as #EndJewHatred Day, signaling growing bipartisan recognition of Jewish civil-rights needs.

In Canada, provincial and municipal proclamations continue to circulate, with the event in Toronto itself sanctioned by local authorities.

Urgency and Next Steps

“Jew-hatred ends with us,” declared Brooke Goldstein, emphasizing that a dedicated day of action must translate into ongoing pressure on governments and institutions to protect Jewish rights.

Alexandra Smith, Canadian Director of #EndJewHatred, warned: “Canada has been turned upside down by the rise of Jew-hatred. Establishing April 29 as a national day of awareness is crucial to keep this fight front and center.”

Organizers urge supporters to:

  1. Sign the pledge at endjewhatred.com/ejhday.
  2. Join or start a local chapter to sustain year-round advocacy.
  3. Demand concrete policy responses from universities, school boards, and legislators.

As antisemitism climbs to unprecedented levels, #EndJewHatred Day at the Nova Exhibition stands as both a testament and a wake-up call: Jewish civil rights cannot be delayed; action is required now.

  1. Very inspiring article. Finally, some hope as the exhibit will encourage people to learn the truth of the October 7 Massacre that many would have us forget and others deny even happened. I hope it makes it to Winnipeg.
