The 2025 Canadian Federal election delivered a decisive rebuke to the “Vote Palestine” campaign and its anti-Israel platform. Despite months of noisy activism and attempts to make Israel a wedge issue, the campaign’s impact at the ballot box was minimal.
Of the more than 360 candidates who endorsed the “Vote Palestine” platform, calling for a two-way arms embargo on Israel, recognition of a Palestinian state, and a ban on engagement with Israeli settlements, only 25 were elected to Parliament. This included just 18 Liberals (roughly 11% of the party’s MPs), 6 NDP, and a single Green party leader, Elizabeth May. The vast majority of Canadians rejected the campaign’s radical demands, leaving Parliament overwhelmingly pro-Israel.
Here are the names and parties of all “Vote Palestine” endorsers who won their ridings:
Liberal Party of Canada (18 MPs):
Nate Erskine-Smith
Adam van Koeverden
Tim Louis
Salma Zahid
Shafqat Ali
Patrick Weiler
Iqra Khalid
Jenna Sudds
Sima Acan
Fares Al-Soud
Sameer Zuberi
Ernie Klassen
Alexandra Mendès
Sean Casey
Aslam Rana
Shaun Chen
Chris Bittle
Gurbux Saini
New Democratic Party (NDP) (6 MPs):
Don Davies
Gord Johns
Heather McPherson
Jenny Kwan
Leah Gazan
Alexandre Boulerice
Green Party of Canada (1 MP):
Elizabeth May
Notably, some of the most vocal anti-Israel MPs lost their seats. The NDP, whose caucus was packed with “Vote Palestine” supporters, suffered historic losses, dropping from 24 to just 7 seats. Even among the Liberals, only a small minority dared to break ranks, and several lost their races to more moderate candidates.
NDP Vote Palestine endorsers who lost their seats include:
- Jagmeet Singh
- Matthew Green
- Blake Desjarlais
- Peter Julian
- Bonita Zarrillo
- Charlie Angus
- Alistair MacGregor
- Laurel Collins
- Taylor Bachrach
- Niki Ashton
- Richard Cannings
- Brian Masse
- Lindsay Mathyssen
- Lisa Marie Barron
- Jenny Wright
- Shailene Panylo
- Alejandra Bravo
Seventeen NDP Vote Palestine candidates lost their races, many to Liberal opponents, further underscoring the campaign’s failure to gain traction with the Canadian public
Pro-Israel organizations and community leaders welcomed the results. As Honest Reporting Canada noted, “Voters overwhelmingly rejected candidates who adopted the Vote Palestine platform… These efforts have remained on the fringes of Canadian society, and these election results show that no matter how much noise is made by these groups, they remain marginal.”
The message from Canadians is clear: while anti-Israel activists may be loud, they do not speak for the country. Canada’s support for Israel remains strong, and the Jewish and Zionist community can count on a Parliament that continues to reject extremism and stand with the Jewish state.
