The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has issued a strong condemnation of the brutal antisemitic murder of two innocent Israeli embassy staffers outside the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., last night. The attack, which shocked the Jewish community worldwide, underscores the ongoing threat posed by Hamas-backed terror and radical antisemitism.
Morton A. Klein, National President of ZOA, expressed profound sorrow and outrage over the killings. “This heinous act by a subhuman killer must be publicly condemned by everyone,” Klein said. “We must understand that the Jew-hating Hamas-supporting Palestinian Arabs were offered and rejected a State 8 times in the last 80 years… Their goal is not a State, it is to murder every Jew and destroy the Jewish State as the Hamas charter proclaims.”
Klein highlighted the repeated offers of Palestinian statehood that have been rejected, including the Peel Commission’s offer of 95% of Palestine and multiple proposals in recent decades. He pointed to the Palestinian Authority’s policy of paying lifetime pensions to terrorists who murder Jews, a practice that has gone largely uncondemned by the international community.
The ZOA leader called for urgent action to counteract the spread of terror glorification and antisemitism on college campuses and beyond. “We must now double down to quash the terrorist promoting demonstrations on college campuses calling to globalize the intifada… praising Arab Islamic terrorists and terrorist groups, attacking Jewish students and blocking their entrance to buildings. This must stop! This only inspires hatred and violence!”
In a direct appeal to prominent Jewish organizations and leaders, Klein urged figures such as Ted Deutch of the American Jewish Committee, Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League, and leaders of the Orthodox Union, B’nai B’rith, and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to retract any support for a Palestinian Arab terror state. He cited Israeli officials, including Foreign Minister Gidon Saar and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who have called for unified opposition to Palestinian statehood.
“We pray for the families of the murdered Jews. May their souls be for a blessing,” Klein concluded.
The attack outside the Capitol Jewish Museum follows a disturbing pattern of escalating antisemitic violence linked to radical Islamist terror groups. It has galvanized Jewish communities and pro-Israel advocates worldwide to renew their commitment to combating antisemitism and defending Israel’s right to exist in peace and security.
