UPDATE: Elderly Israeli Flag-Bearer Attacked in Toronto: New Footage Reveals Escalating Antisemitic Violence

Video exposes a tense and violent confrontation at Yonge and Dundas, highlighting the dangers Jewish Canadians face when peacefully expressing support for Israel.

Toronto – Torontoโ€™s Jewish community has been shaken by new video evidence of a violent confrontation at the busy intersection of Yonge and Dundas involving an elderly man peacefully waving an Israeli flag. The incident, initially reported as a group assault by Hamas supporters, now appears more complex but no less alarming in its demonstration of escalating antisemitic aggression.

The footage shows the lone pro-Israel protester standing near his Bentley when a passerby casually opens the car door, sparking a tense standoff.

Shortly afterward, another individual forcibly grabs the protesterโ€™s Israeli flag, leading to a rough tug-of-war.

During the struggle, the same man who first tried to enter the vehicle pulls a knife, apparently in retaliation after being struck with the flagpole by the protester. Thankfully, another bystander intervenes and disarms the knife-wielder.

Police arrived within minutes, drawing a taser but refraining from using it. In a surprising development, the bystander who disarmed the knife-wielding assailant was also arrested, despite eyewitnesses insisting on his innocence.

This incident starkly illustrates the growing hostility faced by Jewish Canadians who openly express their support for Israel. What began as a peaceful demonstration quickly escalated into a dangerous confrontation, exposing the volatile environment surrounding pro-Israel activism in Toronto.

One Jewish community advocate condemned the violence:
“This disturbing episode reveals how quickly peaceful protest can turn violent when provoked by aggression. Jewish Canadians must be able to express their identity and support for Israel without fear of assault or intimidation.”

Toronto Police continue to investigate the altercation, emphasizing the importance of public safety and justice for all parties involved.

As antisemitic violence rises, the community calls on authorities and citizens alike to stand firmly against hate and protect the rights of individuals to peacefully support Israel without threat or harm.

  1. This is me, the guy who neutralized the proPalestinian attacker with the knife.
Fortunately, the police released me on the spot. I wasnโ€™t the aggressor.quite the opposite. I calmed the entire situation until the officers arrived.
Iโ€™m glad the older man wasnโ€™t harmed and that it ended well.
