TORONTO โ Hila Fakliro, a survivor of the October 7 Hamas attack at the Nova Music Festival, lost her home in Tel Aviv in an Iranian missile strike while she was in Toronto sharing her testimony.
Fakliro had travelled to Canada to speak at the Nova Music Festival Exhibition, an event commemorating the victims of the massacre and advocating for the hostages still held by Hamas. Her presence at the exhibition was described by organizers as โa voice of courage and resilience.โ
โHila didnโt come for herself,โ said one of the eventโs organizers. โShe came for the murdered. She came for the hostages. She came to help all of us understand.โ
While she was in Toronto offering her story to others, tragedy struck again. A missile launched from Iran directly hit her apartment building in Tel Aviv. Fakliro lost her home, her belongings, and what remained of her personal security.

Despite this second trauma, Fakliro has not asked for assistance. But her community is now asking on her behalf.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to raise $36,000 to help Fakliro rebuild her life upon her return to Israel. Organizers hope the campaign will offer her both material support and emotional solidarity.

โShe is a light in the darkness,โ said a supporter involved in the campaign. โNow it is our turn to be a light for her.โ
Any funds raised beyond the $36,000 goal will be donated to the Tribe of Nova Foundation, which supports survivors of the October 7 massacre and bereaved families.
