MP Roman Baber Tours B’nai Brith Canada Food Bank In Toronto

TORONTO — Member of Parliament Roman Baber visited B’nai Brith Canada’s Toronto food bank on June 26 to observe operations and meet staff and volunteers delivering over 100 grocery boxes each week to vulnerable individuals and families, the organization said.

During the tour, Baber watched as volunteers assembled boxes containing staples such as rice, canned goods, and fresh produce. He praised the program’s focus on dignity and compassion. “Seeing this work in action underscores the importance of grassroots support for food security,” Baber said.

B’nai Brith Canada packages and distributes these boxes across Toronto every week. The initiative relies on a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who sort donations, manage logistics, and deliver food directly to clients’ doors.

Judy Foldes, B’nai Brith Canada’s Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO, welcomed Baber and highlighted the growing demand for the service. “Our community continues to face economic pressures,” she said. “This food program brings not just groceries but connection and hope.”

The visit coincided with B’nai Brith Canada’s broader campaign to raise awareness of food insecurity among both Jewish and non-Jewish populations. Recent data from Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank shows that one in eight residents experiences regular food shortages.

Baber committed to advocating for increased federal support for local food programs. “I will continue working in Ottawa to secure resources that strengthen these vital community services,” he said.
