AISH And Partners In Torah Launch Mentorship Program To Tackle Jewish Dating Crisis

Date Smarter pairs Jewish singles with mentors, blending tradition and psychology to foster emotional resilience and connection

NEW YORK — In response to increasing reports of dating app fatigue and emotional burnout among Jewish singles, AISH and Partners in Torah have introduced Date Smarter, a mentorship-centered program aimed at revitalizing the Jewish dating experience. The initiative is designed to foster both personal growth and stronger community ties by pairing singles with mentors who guide them through Jewish values and practical emotional tools.

Launched in mid-July, Date Smarter features three weekly, 30-minute mentorship sessions focused on self-reflection, emotional resilience, and exposure to Jewish wisdom relevant to modern dating challenges. The program will culminate in the largest online Jewish speed dating event of the year, scheduled for August 12. Last year’s event drew over 6,500 participants, resulting in numerous matches, marriages, and sustained connections for over 40 percent of attendees.

“After seeing the impact of last year’s speed dating event, we realized that many people needed more than just opportunity; they needed guidance,” said Rabbi Eli Gewirtz, Founder and International Director of Partners in Torah. “Date Smarter isn’t about matchmaking. It’s about helping singles rediscover who they are, through honest reflection, Jewish values, and emotional mentorship, before they even go on the date.”

Unlike conventional dating platforms and workshops, Date Smarter emphasizes the importance of one-on-one mentorship. By matching singles with mentors from similar backgrounds, the program ensures a safe and supportive space where participants can explore past patterns, discuss stressors, and gain insight into their emotional needs.

“The mentor acts as a guide through both Jewish texts and the emotional terrain of modern dating,” said Rabbi Steven Burg, CEO of AISH. “In many ways, the process mirrors therapy, offering support, validation, and new perspectives at a time when many singles feel exhausted and alone.”

The program seeks to counteract the psychological downsides of app-based dating, such as rejection, confusion, and isolation. Through mentorship, participants are encouraged to develop greater self-awareness and healthier dating habits rooted in Jewish tradition and community support.

Date Smarter is open to Jewish singles of all backgrounds, regardless of level of religious observance. Organizers stress inclusivity and a focus on healing and self-improvement, with a welcoming message: “You are not alone.”

“This program is about more than finding someone,” Rabbi Gewirtz added. “It’s about healing from what hasn’t worked and becoming open to what can.”

Registration for Date Smarter is now open and free for eligible Jewish singles interested in a more emotionally grounded and values-driven approach to dating.
