JERUSALEM โ Israel closed out a historic summer of Aliyah as more than 1,000 Jews from North America arrived in August, the largest monthly wave in 25 years, according to Nefesh BโNefesh.
The milestone was capped by the organizationโs 65th charter flight, organized in partnership with Israelโs Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael, and Jewish National Fund-USA.
โThis summer was truly historic,โ Nefesh BโNefesh said in a statement, highlighting the surge of new arrivals and the symbolic strength of Aliyah at a time of global uncertainty for Jewish communities.
The new Olim have settled across Israel, with Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh drawing the largest numbers. Jerusalem welcomed 384 new immigrants, while 380 chose Beit Shemesh. Other top destinations included Raโanana with 162 Olim, Tel Aviv with 127, and Modiโin with 100.
The influx reflects a growing trend among North American Jews seeking to deepen their connection to the Jewish homeland. Many of the new arrivals cited Zionist values, a desire to raise their children in Israel, and a commitment to strengthening Jewish life as their motivation.
Aliyah leaders noted that this summerโs wave represents not only a statistical achievement but also a statement of Jewish resilience. โEvery family stepping off the plane is writing a new chapter in the story of the Jewish people,โ said Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, co-founder of Nefesh BโNefesh.
The end-of-summer celebration at the organizationโs Jerusalem Aliyah Campus brought together new immigrants, officials, and community leaders in recognition of what was described as one of the most inspiring Aliyah seasons in recent memory.
For Israel, the movement of North American Jews underscores the enduring power of Zionism and the central role of Aliyah in building the nationโs future.
