Concordia Professor Accused On Social Media Of Violent Comment About Zionists

Social posts allege Professor Chantal David wrote โ€œkill them all, as they sayโ€ under a CJPME Instagram post about a McGill BDS motion.

MONTREAL – A widely shared set of social media posts alleges that Chantal David, a professor of mathematics at Concordia University in Montreal, posted the phrase โ€œkill them all, as they sayโ€ in response to an Instagram post by the Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East known as CJPME about a BDS motion at McGill University.

The allegation first circulated on X (formerly Twitter) and was amplified by several accounts that included screenshots and short video captures of the Instagram thread. Prominent social media accounts reposting the material included Leviathan and public commentators who identified the poster as Professor David. These posts were widely engaged with and reshared across platforms.

Concordia Universityโ€™s public directory lists Chantal David as a full professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Her faculty profile and contact information are publicly available on the Concordia website. The directory confirms the professional affiliation cited in social media posts, but does not by itself verify the content of the alleged social media comment.

The social media material prompted immediate responses from community accounts and commentators. Some called for immediate disciplinary action and criminal investigation because the alleged language is incitement to violence. Others urged caution, saying screenshots and reposts must be verified before reputations are judged or formal complaints lodged. Hate crime reports and letters to Concordia had been submitted by community groups.

Legal experts and civil liberties advocates note that public allegations of incitement carry both criminal and professional consequences if proven true. Under Canadian criminal law, public incitement of violence can trigger a criminal investigation. University policies on academic conduct and professional responsibilities may also apply if the statement is authenticated as coming from a faculty member.

For pro-Israel and Jewish community audiences, the alleged comment, if authenticated, would be especially alarming given recent campus tensions and a broader national rise in incidents labelled as antisemitic by community organizations. Jewish advocacy groups and campus safety coalitions have repeatedly called for swift action when faculty or staff are accused of hate speech against Jewish students or colleagues.

Concordiaโ€™s established procedures for allegations involving faculty typically include an initial review, potential suspension of duties pending investigation, and a formal inquiry if misconduct is suspected. It is not yet clear whether such procedures have been invoked in this case or whether Concordia has opened an independent inquiry.
