ZOA President Urges Trump To Reject Tehran’s Negotiating Offer Following Latest Escalation

Morton Klein argues that Iran's renewed willingness to negotiate should be seen as a delaying tactic following recent military escalations, insisting that sustained pressure remains the only effective response to the Islamic Republic.

WASHINGTON, D.C., USA โ€” Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein is urging U.S. President Donald Trump to reject what he described as Iran’s latest attempt to delay military and diplomatic pressure, arguing that Tehran’s reported willingness to resume negotiations follows a familiar pattern of using diplomacy to buy time while continuing hostile actions throughout the region.

Klein issued the statement as tensions between the United States and Iran intensified following recent military exchanges, including the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter, additional American airstrikes, and renewed uncertainty surrounding a fragile ceasefire. At the same time, reports indicated that Iran had signaled a willingness to continue negotiations after President Trump publicly threatened additional military action, including possible action targeting Kharg Island, Iran’s principal oil export terminal.

According to Klein, Tehran’s latest diplomatic overture should be viewed with skepticism rather than optimism.

Klein Warns Against “Another Iranian Game”

In a statement released by the Zionist Organization of America, Klein argued that the Iranian regime has repeatedly used negotiations and ceasefires as tactical pauses while continuing to advance its strategic objectives.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has once again shown the world exactly who it is, and the President is taking note,” Klein said.

He argued that Iran’s alleged violation of the ceasefire and continued attacks against American interests demonstrate that the regime has no genuine commitment to peace.

“By violating the ceasefire and downing the U.S. Army Apache helicopter, after weeks of targeting American allies, threatening shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and directing terrorist aggression across the region during the supposed ceasefire, Tehran has proven it cannot be trusted and has no interest in real peace,” Klein said.

He added that the recent American military response sends an important deterrent message.

“President Trump is right to respond with overwhelming force. The strikes over the last two nights sent a necessary message. Attacks on Americans will carry devastating consequences.”

Negotiations or Delay?

Klein said Iran’s reported willingness to negotiate emerged only after President Trump threatened additional strikes and suggested possible action involving Kharg Island.

“Now this afternoon, suddenly, Tehran is willing to negotiate after President Trump threatened further strikes and the taking of Kharg Island,” Klein said.

“It’s just another Iranian game, an attempt to filibuster and drag the President into another repetitive loop, delaying further action by another seven to eight weeks while the regime stalls and continues to strike American allies and interests in the region.”

His comments reflect a long-standing position held by ZOA that the Iranian government has historically used diplomatic negotiations to relieve international pressure while continuing to expand its military capabilities and support for proxy terrorist organizations.

Longstanding Concerns Over Iran

ZOA has consistently described the Islamic Republic as the principal state sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East and has supported robust American and Israeli efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The organization has also advocated maintaining economic sanctions, strengthening military deterrence, and expanding regional security cooperation between Israel, the United States, and allied Arab states.

Klein argued that decades of negotiations have failed to fundamentally alter the regime’s strategic objectives.

“For decades, the terrorists in Tehran have used negotiations and ceasefires as tactical pauses while continuing their terrorism and nuclear ambitions,” he said.

“This latest betrayal should end any illusion that the regime intends to enter into and honor any agreements with the United States.”

According to Klein, the Iranian leadership responds only to sustained military and economic pressure.

“The Iranian regime understands only strength.”

Escalating Regional Tensions

Klein’s comments come as the conflict between the United States and Iran continues to evolve.

President Trump has publicly threatened additional military action against Iran following the downing of an American Apache helicopter and has indicated that further strikes remain under consideration despite renewed diplomatic contacts. Reports also indicate that Trump has threatened action against Kharg Island while simultaneously expressing openness to negotiations if Iran demonstrates greater flexibility.

Regional tensions continue to affect international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime corridors for global energy supplies.

A Call for Regime Change

Klein concluded by arguing that the underlying problem extends beyond the current military confrontation.

In his view, the Islamic Republic itself remains the central source of instability throughout the region.

“Ultimately, the only lasting solution is the end of Tehran’s terror regime,” Klein said.

“Anything less simply guarantees another cycle of violence, broken truces, and renewed threats against America and her allies.”

His remarks reflect the Zionist Organization of America’s longstanding position that sustainable regional security requires preventing Iran from threatening Israel, destabilizing neighboring countries, and supporting terrorist organizations throughout the Middle East.

Founded in 1897, the Zionist Organization of America is the oldest pro-Israel organization in the United States. The organization advocates for strong United States-Israel relations, supports Israel’s security and sovereignty, promotes Jewish historical rights in Judea and Samaria, and works to combat antisemitism through public policy, education, and advocacy.
